There’s a big announcement over on our UK blog today—that’s the blog for Draper Group Ltd, our UK subsidiary. Even though the announcement only impacts the residential projection screen market in the UK, we wanted to talk about it here, as well, as much for the statement it makes about Draper as anything else.

Draper's domestic Residential Market Manager, Amy Madden, met with Stuart Tickle, the Managing Director of AWE, during CEDIA 2015 in Dallas.

We’ve recently announced an exclusive deal with AWE to be the home cinema distributor of Draper projection screens in the UK market. The partnership between Draper and AWE takes effect immediately.

In the UK, this is big news for us because, although we are already a known and respected name on the residential AV side, AWE will really give us the chance to grow our footprint in that market. They are a great company with several high profile brands in their toolkit. We feel like they are uniquely positioned to increase market share. By the same token, they see our TecVision line of 4K-ready, ISF-certified viewing surfaces as a way to bring premium projection solutions to more people in the residential market.

Now for a bit about why I thought this was important enough to write about here on our main corporate blog.

At a time when some manufacturers have been pulling back this is yet another example of Draper finding a way forward into new territories, and changing approaches to increase our odds for success. The UK market, like others around the world, is tighter right now because of the strength of the U.S. dollar. So it’s efforts like this signing, and another to be announced soon, that show our commitment to not only remaining strong domestically, but globally, as well.

We currently ship Draper products to more than 100 countries.

Don’t expect that number to go down anytime soon.
